Thinking something old

Yesterday, I went to new Daibiru to meet someone.
Never been there since its newborn before.
Very neat building, sophisticated atmosphere... but too neat.

The original building was built on 1925.
That was a kind of a living witness from the World Wor II to the collapse of "bubble" era standing at the west bank of Nakanoshima island.

I went there in April, 2009 that was just before the construction to join the good-bye event of
the cafe "Dai Osaka" (The Great Osaka).  Artists, Big funs, DJs were there to feel the last night.
Then, I met one foreign man who was drawing the classical columns.
We were chatting and he said those pillars are so interesting because of mixture of western-eastern
idea on decoration.  This lantern... that one...  He also said there were iron flames with lanterns before the world war II, but they were taken out because iron was very important necessary to make arms during the war.
He studied architecture at an university in Osaka and said "so sad !"

The Great Osaka!
Why did you leave this building without renovation like the flat iron buidling in NYC?
How come so many skycrapers?
